Paintings by Greek Artists in Sotheby’s

sotheby's auction Sotheby’s Auction House will hold an auction with paintings by European artists of the 19th century. The auction will take place on May 23, in London and according to information, five paintings by Greek artists will also be included.

Paintings by Konstantinos Volanakis, Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas and Nikolaos Gyzis, will be auctioned next to the works of great artists of the 19th century.

We indicatively note some of the most famous paintings that will be offered in the auction, such as the Children on the Beach (Niños en la playa), and Valencia by the Spanish painter Joaquín Sorolla, with an initial estimate between 2,1 and 2,9 million euros, and the paintings Interior with Stove, and Ida in an Interior with Piano by the Danish artist Vilhelm Hammershoi, with an initial estimation between 940,000-1,1 million euros and 1,1-1,7 million euros respectively.

As regards the Greek paintings , it is estimated that the painting Nocturnal Hydra by Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas has the highest price, between 35,200 and 59.,00 euros, along with his Night Outside a Church.
