On April 7, a recreational boat which tried to reach the port of Ierapetra and tie up there, was capsized by strong winds 8-9 Beaufort.
According to flashnews, the incident occurred at about 1.30 p.m. A port police officer who was on duty saw that the boat capsized while three people were trying to reach the shore.
A rescue operation began immediately with the help of a patrol boat that rescued three, while according to Cretalive, rescue services could see the fourth man, who was on his back and not moving, but the waves prevented them from approaching him.
The three men who were rescued are shocked and exhausted and transferred to the hospital. The fourth man is now missing and hopes of finding him seem dim.
