Car Collides with Train in Serres

c365fdb1eb9cd43b32260518ed77400d_LA car-train accident took place early in the afternoon of April 2 in Serres, Macedonia, Greece. After the collision with a passenger train, the car-driver was transferred to the General Hospital of Serres severely injured.

The vehicle passed the safety barriers of the railway lines and crashed into the passing train.

The car driver is hospitalized, while none of the 50 passengers of the train were injured, but are in a state of shock. The train was on the way to Thessaloniki from Alexandroupolis.

The train driver stated that “the unfortunate driver was betrayed by his brakes, so he did not manage to stop on time on the intersection with the railway lines.”

The passenger train stayed for about an hour at the scene of the accident and then continued its itinerary. The traffic police of Serres are looking into the reasons that caused the accident.
