Alexander the Great in Rosenheim

c716408cb34f901d3078d0dcf2d19b0dThe Alexander the Great –National Archaeological Exhibition opened on March 22 in Rosenheim,  Bavaria in Germany at the Lokschuppen Exhibition Center and will run until Nov. 3.

It is organized by the Archeological Museum in Munich in cooperation with Munich’s Glyptothek and the museums of the Louvre, London, Berlin, Vienna, Oxford, Amsterdam, Brussels, Hamburg, Basel, Neapel and 31 more.

The exhibition concept focuses on the biography of Alexander from his crib to his grave, where the historical data and sources are arranged along this guideline. Fascinating archaeological findings take the visitors on a journey through Alexander’s conquest from Greece to Asia Minor, Egypt, Persia, and Babylonia to India,“the end of the World”.

The Prime Minister of Bavaria, Horst Seehofer, the Bavarian State Ministry for Sciences, Research and the Arts, Wolfgang Heubisch and 21 university professors describe all the aspects of the personality of Alexander the Great, as well as the social and political framework during the period of his life, in the 303-page book accompanying the exhibition.

Minister Heubisch, Rosenheim’s first Mayor, Gabriele Bauer, the chief of Munich’s Archeological Museum, Prof. Dr. Rupert Gebhard and Father Apostolos Malamousis, the head priest in Bavaria for the German Metropolitan Church, attended among others the opening of the exhibition.

Bavarian newspapers, Tv and radio dedicated a long reportage on the exhibition.
