Since she was a little girl, she had a passion for cosmetics watching her grandmother make them in her kitchen. Her grandmother’s specialty was the rich moisturizing cream made from extracts of pomegranate. For the hot summer in Greece, the pomegranate with its mythological magical properties was the best and most available herbal sunblock that existed.
Hatzistefanis studied the benefits of pomegranate and discovered that its ingredients are mostly complex of alkaloids and phenol. This active complex has many advantageous properties such as protecting the cells of the skin, anti-oxidant properties and deeply moisturizes the skin leaving it soft and firm. Based on science and the historical magic of the pomegranate, this series led Maria to great success.
According to ‘telegraph’ journal, Hatzistefanis works at her local park in west London. ‘I love clearing my head with a cardio work-out,’ she says. She finds it hard to meditate at home, but enjoys enforced meditation during yoga sessions. She likes a vigorous Vinyasa class two or three times a week at Triyoga Chelsea ( triyoga.co.uk ), and also goes to Jivumukti ( jivamuktiyogalondon.co.uk ). ‘Yoga calms me; I sleep much better as a result.’
Weekends are spent at her Cotswolds home (she has two sons, aged eight and 10). She likes Calcot Manor’s treatments ( alcotmanor.co.uk ). ‘There’s nothing like a massage to relieve tension.’
