Hordes of Young Greeks Move Abroad

uom_01No less than 150,000 Greeks have left their country after graduation in the last five years. They are estimated to have moved to more than 70 countries to find work, a conference organized by the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki heard on March 27.
Lois Lambrianidis, Economic Geography professor, estimates that the head destinations for students who leave  Greece are the United Kingdom, France, Germany and the US.
Lambrianidis mentioned that the majority of students move abroad to work without having searched for work in Greece first. “Moving abroad may be the best thing to do on a personal level. This is not a problem for those young scientists, but for the state” Lambrianidis said.
