Turkish Planes Break Greek Airspace

Turkish planesSeven Turkish fighter jets violated Greek airspace on Jan. 31, foreign media said citing the Athens News Agency, in yet another incident of Turkey testing how far it can go without prompting reaction. Greek and Turkish jets regularly tail each other above the seas separating the countries.
Greece’s Air Force in this case responded by sending its own jets to intercept the Turkish fighters. Reports said that four Turkish planes violated airspace to the north of Chios, and the other three were spotted to the east of Rhodes.
The Turkish Air Force wass said to have been taking part in naval exercises and there was no response from Turkey about the reports or whether the alleged violation was accidental. Greece regularly blames Turkey for violating its airspace. The two countries have a territorial dispute over the Aegean Sea.
