After the great success of the first world premiere in Vienna’s Konzerthaus in 2011, Cavafy will take place for the first time in Germany in Munich Philharmonic Philharmonie im Gastei”, under the baton of Stefan Blantar.
George Dalaras, one of the most important musical ambassadors of Greece, will interpret the innovative project, while Lambert Hamel, the acclaimed German-speaking actor, will recite poems of Cavafy in German. The Project Kavafis connects philosophy with music.
The vocal-symphonic work will be presented on Feb. 2 by the the Wiener KammerOrchester and the Wiener Singakademie choir. Constantine Cavafy, who died in 1933, is considered a key representative of modern poetry and was known for his work in philosophical, historical and erotic poems.
