Kelly Clarkson Sings for President Obama at 2013 Inauguration

beyonce-kelly-clarkson-james-taylor-inauguration-2013Kelly Clarkson took to the stage in Washington, D.C. to sing for President Obama as he rang in his second term.

Clarkson, who is of Greek descent, sang “America (My Country ‘Tis of Thee)” in front of the crowd and millions of viewers. Her performance followed the President’s inaugural speech, and she was joined by the United States Marine Band.

In 2011, the singer backed Republican Ron Paul but said she would vote for Obama after he showed his support for gay marriage.

Following her performance at today’s ceremony, Senator Chuck Schumer approached the podium with a “Wow!” before beginning his speech. Clarkson quickly tweeted a thank you to the President for “opening” for her, and expressed how nervous she was to have performed.
