John Krokidas to Premiere Feature ‘Kill Your Darlings’ at Sundance

killalternate613x463John Krokidas’ “Kill Your Darlings” will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah this weekend.

The film revolves around young Allen Ginsberg who, while attending Columbia University in 1944, makes friends with a cool classmate named Lucien Carr. Carr introduces Ginsberg to William Burroughs and Jack Kerouac. The foursome team up to break the rules of life and literature, and begin what ultimately became the Beat movement. When an outsider named David Kammerer, who is madly in love with Carr, is found dead, the friends’ lives are changed forever after they are arrested in association with the murder.

The ensemble cast includes “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe, Dane DeHaan, Ben Foster, Michael C. Hall, Jack Huston, and Elizabeth Olsen.

Director Krokidas also co-wrote the script. An alumni of Yale, he entered NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts graduate film program after receiving his B.A. He wrote and directed two short films while at NYU – “Shame No More (1999)” played at more than 70 film festivals, and “Slo-Mo” screened at the Telluride Film Festival and the 2002 Sundance Film Festival. “Kill Your Darlings” is his feature directorial debut.

The film will compete at this year’s festival in the U.S. Dramatic Competition. For a schedule of screenings, visit http://filmguide.sundance.org/film/13037/kill_your_darlings
