Greek-American sports commentator Bob Costas, who has sat in the prime-time seat for the Olympics a record nine times on NBC, is hosting a new series on the MLB Network that mixes movies and baseball.
“Costas at the Movies” will focus on a classic baseball-themed movie and features interviews with some of the directors and actors following each film. The five half-hour episodes begin Jan. 14 at 8pm and run every week through Feb. 11.
The schedule is as follows:
Jan. 14 – Cobb, starring Tommy Lee Jones
Jan. 21 – Bad News Bears, starring Walter Matthau and Tatum O’Neal
Jan. 28 – A League of Their Own, starring Tom Hanks and Geena Davis
Feb. 4 – Eight Men Out, starring John Cusack and Charlie Sheen
Feb. 11 – The Natural, starring Robert Redford and Robert Duvall
Guests that Costas will interview include actors Tommy Lee Jones, Tatum O’Neal, and Geena Davis, and directors John Sayles (“Eight Men Out”), Penny Marshall (“A League of Their Own”), Ron Shelton (“Cobb”) and Barry Levinson (“The Natural”).
