Greece comes first as the favorite tourism destination regarding Austrians’ preferences, according to a travel agency survey, spokesman Joseph Peter Leitner said.
In statements released by the Austrian journals Kleine Zeitung and Estereich, he noted that despite reductions in bookings during 2011 and 2012, Greece was last year’s most important destination for Austrians.
He said that the TUI travel agency estimates that Greek tourism will recover soon and Greece comes already first in bookings throughout the Austrian tourism market this year, followed by Turkey.
Leitner said the trend is expected to continue with the booking increase for Greece to reach 20% over last year, while the tourist organization is expanding its schedule for Greece. It is noted that the prices have been reduced, something that makes Greece even more attractive to Austrians.
