Melbourne Greeks Enjoy Greek Carols

Christmas_MelbourneThe event Christmas Carols 2012 organized on an annual basis by the Archdiocese of Australia for the past 30 years, drew thousands of Greeks to hear Christmas melodies and carols from their homeland.

The sweet music from Handel’s Oratorio Messiah started the event. The ecclesiastical Choir of St. Romanos the Melodist and Melos Choir of the Romanian Orthodox Church participated in the event as guests invited by Ezekiel Bishop of Derby.

The celebration also had a reading of the Holy Nativity Gospel by members of the Seminary of the Archdiocese, and concluded with hymns, sung by the Byzantine Choir of the Archdiocese.

Numerous bands and artists followed, performing carols from every corner in Greece and Cyprus, while the Romanian choir also performed their traditional carols.
