Acropolis Museum Opens Ancient Doors for X-mas

Acropolis-museum-300x193The Acropolis Museum is going to host events to celebrate Christmas, starting Dec. 22. Visitors are welcome to attend educational children’s workshops, archaeological programs for the family, 3D screenings, musical events and receive Christmas treats.
The museum invites children to decorate Iresioni, an olive branch, like in ancient times. Many other children activities will take place. During the Christmas vacations the museum will welcome children and parents to play archaeologists and caretakers, and discover celebrations and gifts from ancient Greece, that will link them to the present.
The 2013 lucky charm is inspired by the Erotes’ wings, the winged gods of love. The wings are decorated on the jewelry cover made of clay from the fourth century, replicas of exhibits made in the Acropolis Museum and many other pieces inspired by the museum’s exhibits will be sold.
The museum will be closed on Dec 25 and 26, as well as on January 1.
