Georgiadis Promises Greek-Australians Vote

Greek right-wing politician, MP of New Democracy Party and Chairman of the Committee for Greeks Abroad at the Greek Parliament, Adonis Georgiadis, gave hope to Greeks abroad for voting in the next general election.

Georgiadis and his wife, Eugenia Manolidou is visiting Australia these days. Their journey started from Perth, the capital of Western Australia, then Melbourne where Georgiadis came in contact with many Greeks living in Australia. Their final destination is Sydney.

“We are really close to completing the procedure. I have already held a meeting with the Committee for Greeks Abroad of the Parliament on this issue. We have an agreement with the other parties, expect for the Communist Party and SYRIZA, to support the government’s legislative initiative. There will also be voting letters as well as the opportunity for Greeks abroad to vote in polling stations in their place of residence.” Georgiadis added: “ If the Council of Greeks Abroad is not self-funded, it has no role.”
