Police Intervene After Revolt at Migrant Detention Centre

Police in northeastern Greece say they have intervened to try to end a revolt at a detention centre for illegal immigrants.
Riot police were called in after inmates at the centre outside the city of Komotini, 820 kilometres (510 miles) northeast of Athens, set fires and apparently refused to return to their living quarters.
About 550 suspected illegal immigrants are being held at the site, most facing deportation.
The detention centre at Komotini is one of several facilities opened by the government this year following a campaign to round up suspected illegal immigrants using police patrols in Athens and other Greek cities.
