Tamis’ Trilogy Tribute to Diaspora Success

University professor Anastasios Tamis book A Τrilogy of Greek Voices in Australia presents the life, action and offer of distinguished Greeks in the country.

Among those noted are Nikolaos and Konstantinos Tsoulias, who acted as trailblazers in Canberra. The volume under the title Kostantinos Tsoulias is the last volume inthe trilogy. The first two are about benefactors Zisis Dardalis and Theofilos Efkarpidis.

Kate Carnell, a former Liberal Party politician, who served as the third Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory, presented the third volume. The event was attended by 150 friends of the family who raised $25,000 for medical research regarding newborn deaths. Many organization representatives, MPs, politicians and well-known Australian families attended.

Tamis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. He arrived in Australia in 1971. He studied Modern and Ancient Greek literature and Linguistics and completed his postgraduate and doctoral research on social linguistics and the history of the Greek Diasporas.

He is also considered as the expert scholar on the Hellenic Diaspora and the State of the Greek Language in a Language Contact situation. During the last 20 years, he was published extensively in various European, American and Australian journals.
