Mikakos Sees Help for Greek Migrants

The Shadow Ministers for Seniors and Aging, Assisting the Leader on Children and Young Adults, and Youth Justice and a Member of the Legislative Council for Northern Metropolitan Region, Jenny Mikakos, is asking the Australian authorities to offer funds for the provision of services to the Greeks who have recently migrated to Australia.

Mikakos sent a letter to Immigrant Minister Chris Bowen and The reek-Australian Minister of Multicultural Affairs of Victoria, Nikos Kotsiras, seeking assistance for Greeks coming to Australia, with numbers rising as many are fleeing their homeland because of its crushing economic crisis.

In her letter to Bowen, Mikakos referred to the increased number of Greeks who moved to Australia as well as many Greek students who want to come as well. “They are educated young people with special skills who could offer many things to Australian community,” Mikakos said. “I call on the Australian government to give funds to welfare  in order to serve effectively the newly-arrived Greek immigrants.”
