Greek Judges, Garbage Collectors Strike

Mountains of rubbish are accumulating on the streets of Athens and courtroom doors remain closed.
These are the results of municipal workers and judges strikes still raging in the Greek capital in a sign of their protest of the new, rigid austerity measures announced by the government.
Based on the decision of Greece Association of Judges and Public Prosecutors, local judges have extended their protests until Nov. 21. The Athens Bar Association decided to prolong the strike of their lawyers until Nov. 15 and decided to withdraw all their lawyers from the State Commission.
At a scheduled Nov. 10 meeting of countrywide Bar associations, they want to propose that all their members abstain from countersigning any sales contracts and refrain from lending their services to any property title deed. Public transport workers were also continuing their strike Nov. 9 while taxi drivers ended their protests and resumed service.
