Niarchos Scholarships at Ottawa U.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation initiated an idea which enhances relations between Greece and Canada by donating $1 million to the University of Ottawa to fund two new scholarships for Greek graduate students.

According to Media Room of University of Ottawa, the SNF scholarships will give two Greek graduate students per year the opportunity to pursue their studies and contribute to building the foundation for collaboration between Canada and Greece.

To be eligible, students must currently be living in Greece and studying at a Greek university. The foundation  will provide funds for transportation to Canada, books and living expenses for the students.

“Today’s announcement is such a fitting tribute to 70 years of relations between Canada and Greece.  I look forward to strengthening collaboration and ties between our two countries as a result of this tremendous gift,” said Ottawa President Allan Rock.

“This collaboration will provide numerous qualified Greek students with much-needed financial assistance, and the opportunity to pursue their studies and benefit from the University of Ottawa’s excellent academic environment and programs,” said Andreas Dracopoulos, the Co-President of the SNF.
