The feature film directorial debut from Alex Konstantaras, “The Return of Lazarus,” premiered last week at the Kenyan International Film Festival in Nairobi.
The movie is about two brothers, Lazarus and Kyriakos, who head on a road trip to Maronia, Greece, in search of the mythical cave of the Cyclops. During the course of their trip, they meet a Kenyan woman who works at a local motel.
The screening was packed with a full house of audience members, including people from the Greek community in Nairobi and various Kenyan celebrities.
After the screening, Konstantaras and the film’s female lead, Lizz Njagah, answered questions from the audience. Other cast members include Alexandros Koch in the role of Lazarus, Nelson Lucas as Kyriakos, Nikos Karagiannakis, Akis Gerontakis, Dimitris Ainalis, Konstantinos Tsakiris, Maria Stavrakaki, Rania Evagelinou, Fotios Kollatos, Konstantina Emmanouil, Kostas Mavridis, Melina Tassou, Kevork Melkonian, Margarita Papadopoulou and Thanasis Gaifilias.
“The Return of Lazarus” was shot in Thessaloniki, and has been praised for being “delightful and really beautifully filmed.”
