Melbourne Welcomes Greek Arts, Business Mission

Minister of Macedonia-Thrace, Theodore Karaoglou and Deputy Foreign Minister for Hellenism abroad, Kostas Tsiaras will be head of a large delegation visiting Australia in November, 2012. During the same period, Nov.10-16, a Greek business mission is also coming to Melbourne, organized with the initiative of TIF (Thessaloniki International Trade Fair) and supported by the Greece-Australia Business Council, in cooperation with the Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce.

The two ministers will attend both events for the promotion of Greek products and fetes for the 100th anniversary of the Liberation of Macedonia. They will also attend the 60th anniversary of the signing of the Assisted Migration Agreement Between Australia and Greece which facilitated thousands of Greeks’ migration through the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration (ICEM).

Leading Greek singers Maria Farantouri and Yannis Kotsiras will join the exhibition’s opening which will be celebrated in November at the Greek Museum. Professor of Linguistics and former rector of the University of Athens George Babiniotis will also be visiting Australia during the same period to hold a series of lectures.
