Koundouros’ A Ship to Palestine Opens in Cyprus

The acclaimed director, Nikos Koundouros, has selected the 7th International Film Festival of Cyprus for the official premiere on Oct. 22 of his latest film, A Ship to Palestine, after the closing and prize award ceremony at the event in Nicosia.

In an interview with the newspaper liberal, Koundouros said that he did not intend to integrate  the movie in the whole “competition procedure” and therefore the film would be shown at a special screening and not in competition at the 53rd Thessaloniki International Film Festival.

He said he hopes the film awakens people to what is going on in Palestine. “The cold attitude of Europeans towards the Palestinian drama for many years now nourishes my intention not to remain uninvolved in Palestinians’ humiliation and the Israeli arrogance,” he said.
