Photog Panagiotidis Wins an Immortal Emmy

Photographer Haris Panagiotidis has won an Emmy Award for shooting the documentary Immortal, during the annual ceremony that was held in Melbourne. He won for the category of Outstanding Science and Technology Programming in the 2012 News and Documentary Emmy Awards.

Written and directed by Sonya Robertson and co-produced with Tony Wright in conjunction with Smithsonian Networks, SBS and National Geographic International, the film explores discovery of the so-called “immortality” enzyme by Professor Elizabeth Blackburn and her team, who went on to win the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine.

Immortal has garnered many awards including the Grand Jury Prize at the Paris Science Film Festival and the Innovation and Technology Award and Audience Award at the 6th International Science Film Festival. Panagiotidis worked as a director of photography on Wolverine and I. Frankestein as well.
