The University of Aegean and the Greek Challenge team are co-operating in a program to bring young people a chance to learn sailing skills from distinguished athletes from Greece and all over the world. The university said it would also support Greek Challenge in international sailing events, such as America’s Cup World Series in Greece and its sailing team.
Greek Challenge and the University of Aegean are going to organize sailing courses as part of summer school programs and start extra courses to prepare the future professionals sailors to prepare a team for the America’s Cup challenge, the most prestigious international sailing event. The United States is the current champion and will host the next races in San Francisco next year.
The knowledge and experience in marine tourism of the university has been useful in helping Greek Challenge find sites with appropriate conditions for hosting competitions. Greek Challenge is looking for benefactors to help support its effort.
