Bust of Aristotle at Flinders University in Adelaide

A bronze bust of Aristotle will be unveiled at Flinders University in Adelaide on Nov. 11 as part of a program connected to the Demetria Festival and Logos program of the Australian Center for Hellenic Language and Culture. Among those attending will be the Premier of South Australia, Jay Weatherill.

The center was founded after a $600,000 contribution from the government and another $150,000 annually for its operation, partially assisted by the Greek government.

Demetria is a three-month festival of cultural events held every September-December in Thessaloniki since 1966. Named after Aghios Dimitrios (St. Demetrius), the patron Saint of the city, it has become an institution for the city and very popular.

It includes musical, theatrical, dance events, street happenings and exhibitions, and is organized and overseen by the city. The event is now in its 46th year and has been extended to many Australian cities. This year it coincides with the 1o0th anniversary of the Liberation of Thessaloniki, and festivities will include Greek dancing to mark the occasion.
