Greek food is becoming popular in European countries. Apart from tourist-style Greek restaurants or fast food stores offering souvlaki, and traditional taverns, there are Greeks of the Diaspora opening restaurants and specialty stores in the continent.

The famous Greek chef, Nina Nikolaou, owns a small restaurant in Paris, with her sister. Recently they also opened a corner market where you can find all kinds of Greek traditional food.

Angelos Kleftakis, owner of the Little Greek Pie Company, serves his mother’s traditional pie recipes from Epirus in this modern restaurant. The store is located near Regent’s Park in London.

Petros Pashalidis is an art director from Thessaloniki.  He serves loukoumades (type of doughnuts) based on a recipe from his parents who are involved in making them. He is experimenting with different promising tastes.

Chili, halvas, ouzo olive oil are some great traditional Greek flavors offered by Angeliki Vlahou. She favors wholesaling market to help small Greek companies in this financial crisis.

The Mavromatis company has been operating for 30 years in Paris and Nice. The two brothers have combined Greek and Cypriot food consisting of 200 products. Their specialties are dolmadakia, taramosalata, and moussakas.

Jronia k Jronia, Madrid
On Calle de Hortaleza Street in Madrid last December, George Loumiotis opened a modern corner store with high-quality Greek products such as cheese, yogurt and olives that are attracting customers.
