Samaras Meets President of Greek Communities in Frankfurt

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras visited Frankfurt am Main last week and met with the President of the Association for the Greek Communities of Germany, Kostas Dimitriou.

The two men discussed major issues affecting the lives of the Greek expatriates in Germany, such as the new wave of incoming Greek migrants, the current attitude of Germans towards Greece and its people, politics and the uncertain status of the Greek schools running in Germany.

Samaras thanked the association and its members for keeping up the efforts of supporting the new Greek migrants traveling to Germany in order to find better job and life prospects and noted their contribution in re-shaping the negative image of Greece abroad blamed on the media.

As Samaras stressed, the key issue for the Greek Diaspora in Germany remains the staffing of school classes teaching the Greek language both in bilingual and Greek-language schools. He assured Dimitriou that the Greek government is working towards finding a solution to this crucial problem.
