Avramopoulos Will Represent Greece at UN Opening

Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitris Avramopoulos is travelling to Chicago, Boston and New York and will represent the country at the convening of the 67th regular session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Avramopoulos is set to also meet with members of the Hellenic community of Chicago and Boston, Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago and Metropolitan Methodios of Boston, as well as political figures including the Governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick.

He will be in New York and at the UN on Sept. 23 and then will join the UN General Assembly at its headquarters to meet with General Secretary Ban Ki Moon. Avramopoulos will meet with several counterparts of Balkan countries there as well. It was expected that he would try to work to improve Greece’s image abroad which has been battered because of a crushing economic crisis.
