Greece a World Top 10 Gay Favorite Country

Going against perceptions that the country is not favored toward gays, Greece has been named the ninth preferred destination in the world by the association for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) community, Out Now Business Class, the first time it made the list and was the only new entry this year.
France is still first, followed by Great Britain, U.S.A, Italy, Spain, Australia, Germany, Canada, with Argentina in 10th. According to the research, LGBT tourism was not affected by the economic crisis of the Eurozone and helped give a boost to countries who are accepting of them. Athens was also included for the first time among the 10 most gay-friendly city destinations in Europe.
The research surveyed 100,000 people from 24 countries, asking them which country they would like to visit in the next three years. It is estimated that the industry of LGBT tourism spends more than $165 billion annually. The results are going to be announced officially to the World Travel Market tourist fair at London in November.
