Hellenic Olympic Committee Asks Disqualified Athletes to Give Back €150 For Not Participating in the Olympics

Every Greece-based institution and individual is facing financial problems during the past few years but who would expect that the Hellenic Olympic Committee would ask the Greek disqualified athletes to give back money received in order to cover some daily expenses of theirs while in London?
According to the Committee officials, those athletes who did not participate in the London Olympic Games for several reasons, such as Voula Papahristou and Dimitris Hondrokoukis, had received 300 euros to cover their expenses during their stay in the Olympic village. Since they were disqualified by the Olympics, they have the duty to return this amount of money, claims the Committee.
Now, the Hellenic Committee is asking them to return at least 150 euros out of the 300 so that “state money may not be wasted.” This statement sounds quite strange taking into account the Independent’s report, according to which officials of the Greek Olympic mission overspent despite the crisis .
