Ancient Greek Technology Exhibition in Pyrgos, Peloponnese

The Museum of Ancient Greek Technology “Kostas Kotsanas” in Kataloko, which functions under the auspices of the Municipality of Pyrgos, presents a unique exhibition of 300 models of ancient Greek technological inventions and mechanisms ranging from 2000 B.C. up to the end of the ancient Greek world. It is said to be the most detailed exhibition of its kind on a world scale.
The exhibits are accompanied by rich audio-visual material (in Greek and English), while many of them are interactive.
The exhibition (categorised in thematic units) is arranged following the principles of  modern educational approach from the Education Department of  the Museum so that it appeals across more than one modality and is multi-leveled as far as the greatness of ancient Greek technological thought and technique are concerned.
The exhibition has attracted international attention, as many foreign magazines, including German FOCUS, have published praising articles for the museum’s innovative effort. The popular German travel guide DUMONT has included the museum as one of Peloponnese’s Top 10 destinations. The exhibition has also traveled to Cyprus and Australia, as well as to numerous Greek cities.
Kostas Kotsanas has created the whole exhibition from scratch with his own expenses and has never received a state or private funding for his efforts.
