Greece Ranks First in Energy Conservation, According to WWF Competition

Good news–Greece was declared the European champion in energy conservation.  WWF ran a competition and Greece proved to be Europe’s first country in energy saving among 10 participants.
The European championship known as P.EX.E. lasted 13 months and was finished a few w months ago on April 30th. More than 8,000 households took part in the competition and adopted practices to reduce their energy footprint, showing that we can save money while protecting the environment.
The criteria taken into consideration by the WWF officials in order to name Europe’s champion were the civic participation and the final rate of saving reached within these 13 months.
Greece emerged first in participation taking into consideration its overall population. 2,845 households have joined the competition. Germany follows in the second place with 1,888. In the total rankings, Malta finished second and Denmark third.
By the end of the competition, energy consumption decreased by 2,643 kWh, CO2 emissions by 7,431 kg as well as household utility expenses whichdropped by 1,420 euros.
