Earthquake: 4.2 Tremor off Crete

An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale was recorded this morning off the island of Crete in the Aegean Sea. According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Institute, the epicenter was 100 km west of the city of Ierapetra and 60 km deep. There have not been any reports of material damage or injuries resulting from the tremor.
Due to its position along an important fault line, Greece is the European country with the most seismic activity, with at least half of all earthquakes occurring on the continent.
