Nouriel Roubini: 'Euro 2012' May Soon Turn Into 'Drachma 2012'

“Football championship Euro 2012 may soon turn into Drachma 2012 depending on results of the Greek elections on June 17th…” wrote world-class economist Nouriel Roubini on his Twitter account today, comparing the ongoing football championship to the possible Greek Euro Exit on a lighter note than he is used to.
With this play on words, Roubini, who has often referred to the feasibility of GREXIT in the past, is providing yet another dimension to the EuroZone problem and its expected domino effects.
Nicknamed “Dr. Doom” Roubini is professor of economics at the Stern School of Business, New York University, and chairman of RGE Roubini Global Economics, an economic consultancy firm.
On the other hand, Nobel-laureate economist Joseph Stiglitz and fellow prominent economist Jens Nordwig of Nomura Holdings Inc. predict a better future and sustainable rise for the Euro if Greece goes into a controlled default and gradually exits the monetary union.
The two experts believe that the GREXIT would allow the EuroZone to become more solid and stable in the international markets if the situation remains under control.
