Rembetik.on, a well-known musical company in the Rhine-Ruhr area of Germany, presented a fabulous potpourri of Greek music last night and raised the spirits of the audience. The charity event which was hosted in Z.A.K.K. Düsseldorf is the first in a series of events whose sole purpose is to support Greece during this difficult period. The next event to follow will be held on the 16th of June in the Greek Community Köln.
As the lead singer Vangelis stressed during his welcome speech, the initiative should be an uncomplicated and effective act to support Greek Doctors of the World, a non-profit organization, with the proceeds of the concerts. The president of Greek Doctors of the world, Kanakis Nikitas expressed his warmest regards to the audience via Skype and described the importance of the organization’s work by providing medicine and medical service to the Greek people who cannot effort it.
Vangelis, Voula, Despoina the singers and Leonidas, Kostas, Dimitris and Giannis on the various instruments presented a whole range of different kinds of Greek music. Starting with popular songs of Asia Minor, crossing the border to mainland Greece with the famous songs of Mikis Theororakis, Chatzidakis, the seven artist managed to jam-pack the hall with enthusiasm. Both Greek and German audiences were thrilled and gave standing ovations, ending the unforgettable night with many well-earned thank yous.
