On June 6, famous Cypriot journalist Andreas Christodoulides lost the fight against cancer and passed away at the age of 70. Christodoulides has worked for the biggest Greek newspapers and was the general director of the Athens News Agency.
The Austrian News Agency featured his long career, especially due to the fact that Christodoulides was a distinguished member of the European Alliance of News Agencies.
In the Austrian telegraph, they stress the fact that the late Cypriot represented, for the past 35 years, the national news agency of Greece in the European Alliance of News Agencies, while he also managed during his long career, that members of the news agency of Athens are elected in administrative positions by non-governmental bodies.
The Austrian journalist reports that Christodoulides’ life was not easy. In 1967, due to the junta, he was forced to postpone his studies in Athens and leave Greece, where he returned after the junta fell in 1974.
Christodoulides became Head of the Hellenic Broadcasting Company ERT, as well as member of the European Forum of Audiovisual Means, writer of several books and was honored with Greek and International awards. In 2002, he was one of the main speakers at the International Symposium of the Austrian News Agency on Journalism and News Agencies.
