Yiannis Polykandriotis’ Music School to Lead Pre-Olympic Parade

The Music School of Greek Diaspora Yiannis Polykandriotis, of the famous homonymous bouzouki maestro, has been selected to lead the parade for the “One Month Counting to the London Olympics 2012,’’ playing Greek music at Waltham Cross EN8 7LF on June 23. The parade  will kick off the event.

This event celebrates Broxbourne’s hosting of the Olympic canoe slalom events in the 2012 Games at the Lee Valley White Water Centre. Featuring local dancers, singers, and musicians, and with sports demonstrations from local clubs, there will also be interviews with local Olympic hopefuls and guest appearances from Olympic medalists. Last year’s One Year and Counting event, with Olympians David Florence and Jeanette Kwayke, attracted over 4,000 people.

The Music School will leave Wicks Car Park and walk through and around the town, finishing at the stage to start the event at 11am. The main performance will be at a later time, to be advised.

There will be a pre-Olympic rehearsal on June 17 from 3pm to 5pm at the Wood Green Community Centre (Earlham Grove, London N22 5JH).

Yiannis Polykandriotis’s school is also taking part in The Celebrations of the London Olympics 2012 on August 5. Time to be advised. Cedars Park, Theobalds Lane. Town, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire EN8 8RS.
