Greek-Australian Stars in Italian, Hercules-Inspired Theatrical Play

Ange Arabatzis is a Greek Australian filmmaker and actor who lives in Melbourne and is about to star in the theatrical play DEANA VP, an Italian production inspired by the ancient Greek myth of Hercules, son of mighty God Zeus.

DEANA VP is a comedy by Pasquale M. Palmieri which presents an interesting scope of modern life. But as everything modern, if one looks further, it finds its roots in the past. For this play, the origin dates back to ancient Greece and its mythical heroes. It describes the story of some people’s dysfunctional lives, while dealing with an age-old problem – the general behavior of different people depending on their genders, sex and power.

“Individuals have their mind to differentiate themselves from animals,” people say, but sometimes one wonders why we behave like animals in the end?

DEANA VP will play at Chapel off Chapel June 1-2, and will also be included as part of the Melbourne Italian Festival August 10-12.
