Author Evgenios Trivizas Nominated for International Children’s Literature Award

The beloved and deeply respected Greek author Evgenios Trivizas was nominated for this year’s Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA) for children’s literature for “The Circle of the Greek Children’s Book.”

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award is an international children’s literature award, established by the Swedish government in 2002 in honor of Swedish children’s books writer Astrid Lindgren. The prize is awarded annually to writers, illustrators, narrators whose work reflects the spirit of Astrid Lindgren making it the richest prize in the world for children’s literature, and one of the overall richest literary prizes in the world.

The object of the award is to increase interest in children’s and young people’s literature, and to promote children’s rights to culture on a global level.

The award is administered by the Swedish Arts Council amounting to five million Swedish Kronor. Unlike many similar awards in literature, the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award is funded solely by central government funds.
