Nia Vardalos to Write Book on Child Adoption

Nia Vardalos, famous for her hit movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” has signed a book deal with HarperOne to write about her struggle with trying to become a parent for 10 long years. Vardalos adopted a 3-year old girl after fertility treatments didn’t work.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the book is not only a memoir of her journey, but also a how-to of adoption, which she believes people will find useful since discovering herself what a complicated process it can be.

HarperOne publisher Mark Tauber said in a statement, “we are excited to offer this important new resource on successful adoption. We believe that Nia’s story and the information in this book will help many, many people.”

The book is set to be published April 2013, just in time for National Adoption Month, which takes place in May. In addition to writing the book, Vardalos is also working on a comedy show for ABC.
