SYRIZA MP Voutsis' Referendum Proposal Shakes the Political World

SYRIZA member Nikos Voutsis spoke about a referendum in case of a failed attempt to renegotiate the memorandum from a possible SYRIZA government. That proposal frustrated many pro-memorandum party members who rushed to accuse him of bringing chaos to the already shaken political world.
Speaking on state television, Voutsis received questions about how SYRIZA will react in case of failure to change the memorandum and the loan agreement. He responded that the next move will be the appeal to the people and a referendum.
The referendum will ask Greeks whether they want their country to stay in the Eurozone, Voutsis explained. His answer brought a strong reaction by the PASOK MP in the second electoral district of Athens and departing Health Minister Andreas Loverdos.
The former minister stressed the danger of that likelihood, since, in his view, it will be disastrous after two elections within two months to take the country into a referendum, reminding people that Europe is still skeptical of Greece.
