US Greek Embassy Celebrates EU Open House Day 2012

The Greek Embassy in Washington DC will be showcasing Greece’s cultural heritage at this year’s EU Embassies’ Open House Day by having traditional food products and flavorful samples from select Washington restaurants. “Greece Makes Senses” is offering a tasty tour of the Greek cuisine. Performing dance groups will also add to the event with music from all over Greece.

On the same day, the exhibition “Contemporary Greek Architecture: Same Roots, Different Routes” will begin. The exhibition will showcase the beginnings of Greek architecture, its influence around the world and its development to date. The exhibition will remain open to the public until May 31, from 10am-3pm.

The Delegation of the European Union to the United States and the Embassies of the 27 EU Member States to the United States will open their doors to the Washington public during the EU Embassies’ Open House Day on May 12.

This annual event is a highlight of the Washington May calendar and is celebrated during Europe Week. Each embassy will open to the public from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, offering a rare look inside the buildings and providing a unique opportunity to experience the country’s cultural heritage and national traditions. Free shuttle bus service will be provided throughout the day. The EU Delegation and the Embassies will offer authentic music, dance, food, film, art and fun for the whole family.
