Australia Remembers Writer Nikos Kazantzakis

A public lecture on the novels of Nikos Kazantzakis will be held next week to commemorate 55 years since the death of the famed writer.

The lecture – “The superman and human transcendence in the novels of Nikos Kazantzakis” – held by the International Society of Friends of Nikos Kazantzakis (Melbourne Branch), will be delivered by Dimitris Gonis, who is a student of Kazantzakis’ work and currently getting a PhD at La Trobe University.

The lecture will be in Greek with a summary in English. Extracts of Kazantzakis’ work will be read in English and Greek. Gonis will answer questions in both languages.

The public lecture will be held at the Cretan House, 150 Nicholson Street, East Brunswick. Melway 30, (Plenty of free parking at the back of the building) on Monday, May 14 at 6:30 pm. All are welcome.
