“The Final Pay-Off,” a new action drama feature filmed in Greece is in production, and still has a few days left to complete shooting. The film is directed by new aspiring filmmaker Alexander Leontaritis, who also wrote the script, and is produced by Desmida Visual Creations (www.desmida.com).
Well known Greek actors star in the movie, including Yannis Bostantzoglou, Eleni Filini, Yorgos Giannopoulos and Argyris Thanasoulas. Greek Reporter sat down with the director and a star of the movie to discuss the film’s plot and the making-of process.
“The movie is centered around two guys working for a loan shark. The main character, who is also an ex-boxer, starts having moral concerns when things go bad and has to choose between his job and starting a new life with a young actress he falls for. It’s more of a social drama movie based on true stories depicting a more hidden aspect of some of the things happening in Greece with the crisis,” says director/writer Leontaritis.
Greg Terzakis, who stars in the movie and also produced alongside Alexander Leontaritis, chimed in on the project:
“It has been a great challenge doing this movie during this period in Greece. We had to deal with a lot of action sequences like fight scenes and car chases. Despite the difficult situations we came upon and the choices we had to make for this project moving with a low budget, as the financial crisis in the country has affected the business so much. We believe that our passion and very hard working team is producing an equally competitive feature film with big studios and high-budget productions. Several locations around Athens and more than 80 people (technical team, actors, consultants, etc.), are already involved in the project. Hopefully we will have finished with the post production by the end of this summer and getting it ready for film festivals after that.”
Other actors in the movie include Ladydust (Marina Tsigonaki), Christos Theofilatos, Haris Georgiadis, Vangelis Mourikis, Avraam Papadopoulos and many others. Vlasis Skoulis is the director of photography, sound recording and sound editing is made by Teo Babouris, script continuity by Nefeli Rapti, music will be written by George Krezos and the editing will be done by Thodoris Armaos. Original songs will be heard in the movie from Marika Papazoglou and her band Neraida. Her latest record “Outside the Box” was recorded in Los Angeles.
The producers of the movie are in talks with production companies regarding distribution, with plans to release it in theaters in 2013.
