China Asks for Greece’s Advice in Developing Underground Metro

Chinese officials and constructing companies have asked for assistance from the Greeks in regards to the Underground.

A few days before the Easter holiday, people in charge of the construction of the metro station in Chidao, China, visited Greece to examine the possibility of cooperating with the state company Attico Metro.

The Greek company’s employees have high scientific training. The Greek metro is earthquake-proof, taking into consideration the archaeological findings along the tunnels, as well as paying attention to the buildings and the people living above it.

On Wednesday, April 18, another group of Chinese technical professionals from Guangdong, China, met with officials of the Hellenic Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks and asked for information concerning the under-construction motorways in Greece.

The Chinese are interested in how the metro works in Athens and Thessaloniki because Chidao’s subsoil is similar to that of Athens’. The Greek government gave permission to the Attico Metro company to share their technological knowledge with China.

The president of the company, Christos Tsitouras, announced that they are about to travel abroad. Cyprus also asked for their contribution in making the new tramways for the country. But Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and Qatar also have taken interest in a similar future collaboration.
