Greeks of Australia celebrated Orthodox Easter as massive and glorious as possible. The excellent weather conditions and high temperatures gave the vast Greek community the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Easter.
Areas in Melbourne and Sydney, where the Greek element is practically dominant, were flooded by the sights and smells of the holiday with roasting lamb and beautiful traditional music.
Greek-Australians attended the Resurrection ceremony in Orthodox churches across various Australian cities. The view of thousands of people carrying the Holy Fire into their homes in the middle of the night overwhelmed Australians.
The only tradition that was nowhere to be seen was a fireworks display, which has been forbidden by the Australian authorities because of reported injuries in the past.
