Greek-Australian Getting Ready to Travel to Space

Nikos Halikopoulos, aka Nik Halik, is a millionaire who used to live in Melbourne. He has tried to travel to the moon several times, and in 2008 he came pretty close to his dream as a “substitute passenger” for space travel.

Halik was next in line after Richard Garriott, another millionaire, to travel to the International Space Station. He passed all the necessary tests, learned Russian, did the right exercises and mathematics necessary, and learned what each button of the spacecraft is supposed to do. He was set to replace Garriott if necessary.

Having spent about 30 millions dollars, Halik hopes to travel to space next October. He seems to be a rather adventurous person, having climbed the highest mountains of the world, diving great depths with submarines, and visiting almost every corner of the world. He even finds extra time to occasionally advise young men on how to become millionaires.

He came from a poor family, but says, “I was born rich in future prospects!”

He managed to experience everything he wrote on a list when he was only eight years-old. At the age of 17, he had already saved thousands by working as a bouzouki and music teacher.

A year later, he left for Los Angeles and performed music on several stages. Now, he travels to Greece once a year and says his homecountry inspired him to write his autobiography, “Thrillionaire.”

Just for the record, this “trip” will cost about 100 million dollars. Halik says he does not fear death while traveling to space. Besides, his will is ready; he demanded his lawyer pay an American company to take his ashes to his dreamland should he die before managing to travel to the moon.
