Malaysian Ghost Companies Offered Greeks Fake Jobs

The Greek Community warns of some Malaysian ghost companies offering false job opportunities. Luckily, only one person seems to have fallen victim to their tricks, paying out 1,000 euros to the scammers.

But no one is completely sure whether there are more people who have been deceived, so the Greek Community in Malaysia is sounding the alarm.

The Malaysian ghost companies offered well-educated Greek professionals permanent jobs with a salary of 8-12 thousand euros per month. For a person coming from a country in crisis, this would seem to be nothing more than the perfect life.

Unfortunately, the dream of some Greeks ended up to be almost a nightmare when they realized that these companies do not exist. They were fully organized, providing applicants with fake labor contracts and asked for 800-1000 euros in order to cover the expenses of their work permit.

Some applicants asked the Greek Embassy and the community for further information because they became suspicious of the Malaysian “businessmen,” which alerted the locals and authorities to the scam.
