"The Germans Strike Again" Poster Turmoil in Thessaloniki Solved

The old school Greek film production “The Germans Strike Again” will take the central stage of the National Theatre of Northern Greece (NTNG) on Sunday, March 18.
There is nothing out of the ordinary about the theatrical performance of the famous black and white film directed by Alekos Sakellarios in 1948. However, the promotional campaign of the performance, which seems to have gone up in thin air, was what had everybody talking the past few days.
The posters advertising the upcoming theatrical comedy play, to be hosted at the Theatre of the Society of Macedonian Studies, were gone overnight, leaving many making up stories about their possible disappearance.
Some said the German diplomatic authorities had something to do with the ‘magical’ disappearance of the posters, some claimed that the local residents took the posters home with them, while others were conducting gallops on whether the posters were kitsch or satanically clever.
The mystery of the “missing” yellow posters, illustrating Adolf Hitler dressed like a cancan dancer, was cleared up today through an official announcement of the NTNG, according to which, all above mentioned rumors have nothing to do with the true promotion policies followed. More particularly, the NTNG chose to advertise the upcoming play in different and successive means and messages. “Within its communication tactics, the first poster was replaced by the second one, which will be replaced by another” read the announcement.
